The Pumpkin Swivelling Armchair is characteristic of Pierre Paulin’s revolutionary design style. As its name suggests, this armchair is evocative of a giant pumpkin, welcoming the user with its protectively voluptuous – and voluptuously protective – shell.
Originally created by Pierre Paulin for in 1971, the Pumpkin Swivelling Armchair was designed for the private apartments of Claude and Georges Pompidou, at the Elysée Palace. It has since been put into large-scale production.
Construction of the Pumpkin Swivelling Armchair:Seat and backrest: moulded polyurethane, with a ‘comfort' layer in the same foam.Base and mid-section: polyether foam, resting on a thermoformed ABS base.Exterior mid-section: polyether foam.Covers on seat and back: 100g/m2 polyester.Base: 180 degree rotating swivel base.
